Our Thanks, O God, For Fathers

Celebrations began as the girls fixed a pancake breakfast.  They attempted frog shapes with the batter, but soon switched over to making “baseballs”.

After a lovely time of fellowship at church, we returned home for a Father’s Day meal of homemade pizza and apple cobbler.  The children deluged their Daddy in homemade cards and tokens of appreciation, and Kaira found a hymn in an old hymnal which she played on piano as her gift.  The song was new to me, but the simple lyrics fittingly capture the caring Daddy my children are blessed to know:

Our Thanks, O God, For Fathers

By Lois S. Johnson

Our thanks, O God, for fathers Who follow in Thy way,

And who with glad and trusting hearts, Exalt Thee every day.

Our thanks, O God for fathers Who show by word and deed,

Commitment to Thy will and plan, And Thy commandments heed.

Our thanks, O God for fathers Who meet Thee oft in prayer,

And who for all life’s toil and care, Find strength and wisdom there.

How blessed are the children Who in their fathers see

The tender Father-love of God, And find their way to Thee.

Happy Father’s Day:

to my own wonderful Daddy, and to Ken–an amazing husband and father!

  1. HI Dell
Lovely family indeed! Glad to see you all had a wonderful Fathers Day.
The dresses and your skirt are beautiful! Did you sew them?
    Irene

  2. Thanks all! Irene, I didn’t sew the clothes. Challice (who commented just above this) made Kaira’s and Keianna’s dresses! (Kendra’s is 2nd hand–a brand called Storybook Heirlooms, and my skirt is from a website called mapleclothing.com.)

Challice’s etsy shop is here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/CottagePrimrose She also does custom sewing when she has time, so you might try emailing her for availability. 🙂

I have a few other seamstress friends who help me keep our wardrobes filled, and hope to create a FAQ page on this blog soon disclosing my clothing resources. 😉

I sew a bit, but am tediously slow at it and only manage a few items a year from my own machine. Ebay, Etsy, Cottage seamstresses like Challice, and other sources are my friends!

(And since Challice posted here in the comments and called me slender, she’s even more my friend! LOVE YOU, Challice!)
