I thought I’d share some zany mathematics we’ve been enjoying lately at PrairieFrogs Academy.
Kaira and Kendra found A Place For Zero in one of the Gleaning Day bags, and have been reading it over and over. It great fun. Along the same line we’ve enjoyed Sir Cumference and the Dragon of Pi. Both have fun plays on words that can be enjoyed at many levels, while incorporating some mathematic concepts.
The Dot and the Line: A Romance in Lower Mathematics is also quite clever. I was first introduced to it through an animated short that trailed a movie my dad recorded. He taped the short, but the quality isn’t great, so I’ve actually considered buying a DVD of some strange movie called the Glass Bottomed Boat just because it has The Dot and The Line as a trailer.
